Chris Evert

I have watched millions of tennis matches throughout the years from amateur to professional, men’s and women’s. Thousands of those matches have been played on clay courts. Of those thousands of matches, I have not seen anyone match the ability of the US women’s Chris Evert on clay. She is bar none one of the top women tennis players of all time. Her record is the greatest testimony to this claim: Evert’s career win–loss record in singles matches is 1,309–146 (.900). This is the best of any professional player in tennis history male or female! When I watch past matches of Evert’s, I am usually at the edge of my seat anticipating how she will respond to her opponent. I see something new every time.

The technique and style that she brings to the game is something I encourage all of my tennis students to mimic. There are many great tennis players out there, men and women alike, but there are only a rare few that experience the success that Evert has.
